The phrase “Men are trash” is everywhere, and Muslim men are subjected to it, too. It’s been uttered by that friend of yours who just got dumped by her ex-favorite person, or even an uneducated non-Muslim that just decided to buy into this narrative.

When it comes to the idea of saying that “Muslim men are trash,” it doesn’t just serve as a smear campaign towards all the good men that exist in our community, but it also serves the narrative that the mainstream sells about Muslims.

For one, when you say “Muslim men are trash,” you’re telling people that it’s not the idea of toxic masculinity anymore; it’s more of an issue of being a Muslim.

Because all men from any background can be “trash” if they follow toxic masculinity.

In fact, it’s all about having someone powerful abusing someone else who’s less powerful, and that’s obviously against what Islam teaches us.

And here comes our part to address the real problem we have in our Muslim community at its source, instead of just saying that Muslim men are trash.
